UNIT 5: CAN YOU SWIM? Lesson 2: part 1-2-3 I. Objectives: After the lesson, students are able to: - Ask and answering questions about whether someone can do something. - Develop: speaking. - Ss look after, solve problems and study themselves. - Studious and obedient students and love their friends. II. Language focus: - Vocabulary: chess, play, football, chess, voleyball, table tennis, … - Sentence patterns: Can you play badminton? - Yes, I can/ No, I can’t. III. Teaching aids: 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures 1. Class organization:- Greeting - Checking for the students' attendance. 2. Oral test: Have pupils asking and answering about months in a year. 3. New lesson: Teacher’s activities Warm up: - Have ss play the game: Chain game. + Ask a student to give out a word of activity. + The others listen and give out others words. - Check some groups. 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to open their books on P.32 - Play the recording and ask Ss to repeat each line of the text. - Divide the class into two groups to play roles. - Call some pairs to read aloud. 2. Point and say - Have ss look at the picture and identify the characters and what they can do. - Say: “ You are going to practice answering the question “ Can you…….. ? – Yes,.../ No, ... - Give the meaning of new words. - Have ss read the new words. - Have Ss work in pairs to practice. Students’ activities - Work in group of 5. S1: sing S2: dance S3: cook ………… - Give out and check. - Look and find. - Listen and repeat. Read in groups. - Read in pairs. - Look and find: P. a P. b P. d - Listen. - Practise in pairs. P. c - Do picture a as a model. - Call some pairs to talk in front of the class. 3. Talk - Have ss look at the questions - Check some pairs. - Call on some students to report the answers. - Check and correct. Reinforcement and homelink: - Have ss learn to sing: Can you swim? (p33). - Ask Ss to do Ex in Part E (p.8/WB) - Act it out and correct. - Practise in pairs. -7-8 pairs. The rest of class give comments. - Ss practise ask and answer in pair. -Listen and learn to sing. - Do at home.
