Much like the Vampire Diaries, I thought that the Originals was going to be a show aimed at tweens. I was so wrong! It is a great supernatural show for people of all ages. I didn't start watching these two shows until earlier this year but I'm so glad I gave them a chance after reading so much about them. This is easily one of the best spinoffs I've ever seen. The Mikaelson family are never boring, every season was almost equally as good as the others. Klaus is one of the best characters in either show and the show is worth watching just for him. I highly recommend this show if you like shows about supernatural or vampires/werewolves. It doesn't get much better than this.

Surprised by how much I enjoyed this
The Originals (along with The Vampire Diaries) surprised me as much as any show I've ever seen. It surpassed every expectations I had for this series. I just finished binging the entire series on Netflix recently and that's not an easy thing to do considering it has 92 episodes but it was so good that I just couldn't stop watching it. I watched a minimum of 3 to 4 episodes a day, even more on the weekend. Now that I finished it I can say without a doubt that it is totally worth the time and effort. I'll actually probably watch it all the way through again in the future because of how much I liked it. This is not your average vampire show. The dynamic between the family, especially Klaus and Elijah, is what makes this show so special. The Michaelsons make a lot of enemies on their time on Earth but always find away to get over their family problems to come out on top. This is a must watch for any fan of Supernatural shows.

A top notch drama series even to this day
It's been three years since the controversial finale of the originals was aired.
I always get back to this show (in total I watched 3 times fully from start to end since 2018) and every time I get amazed by how the whole series was executed. (I tend to focus on different details every time I watch it)
Compelling story, especially season one and season two. The other seasons were also good, don't get me wrong, but the first two just stand out.
Marvelous cast that brought their characters to life.
Well written characters, even the secondary ones, with a strong development over the course of the show .
Great setting, not too small, and not too big at the same time, making it barely noticeable that the whole show has 4-5 main locations only.
There is really nothing I could have want more from show that's main purpose was to be a TV drama, from the ones you put on when you are back home after a long working day.
It was nice being so involved with Klaus's journey.

Will forever be my favorite show
I truly cant describe thoroughly enough how much I love this show. This to me is the show of shows. The vampire diaries is a close second but for the older fans this show is the one. So many memorable characters, so many favorites. Makes me cry to think it's over.

A spinoff that is better than the original (TVD)

After watching the vampire diaries I decided to try the spinoff the originals and my god it's doesnt disappoint. It gives you the suspense and makes you keep on watching. I found this show way better than the vampire diaries because the originals keeps you watching without boredom and it doesn't turn out like the soap opera like tvd. Anyways overall it a good show 100% recommended even tho Julie ruined the ending and almost killed everyone off in the final season.

A glorious ride that ended with a bad taste
This is one of my favorite series ever if not the favorite. The characters are written perfectly. With that said I was disappointed with the final season. This is my full series breakdown.
Season 1 9/10 Great first season.
The only reason its not a 10 is because it had way too many allegiances changes. And some balance of power issue that didn't make sense. Other then that its a prefect first season.
Season 2 11/10 I think this is the best season of any show ever. They fixed all the small issues from season 1. And you get all the big guns in here. In my opinion they didn't match this season after that.
Season 3 10/10 Another great season. Its started a bit different but evolved great. The last few episodes made this season top notch.
Season 4 9.5/10 This season was different aswell. It also had only 13 episodes compared to the previous 23. That changed the pace and the story telling. The ending of this season should have been series finale. It's a 10/10 series finale no doubt and makes sense.
Season 5 7.5/10 This is the weakest season by a long shot. It had a mix of a weak bad guys and leftovers of a bad guy from season 4. They also killed many characters, and some of the deaths didn't make much sense. Overall it felt like a very long setup for hope's legacies. My biggest issue that it was lacking the sophistication previous seasons had. It made me say many times no way this doesn't make sense.
The finale isn't bad, but if this season didn't exist, season 4 finale would be the perfect one for The originals.

ENDING OF THE ORIGINALS
Why is the series ending on season 5. This is the best vampire show I have ever watched. The cast, literal alignment in scripts of the cast, the storyline are all so eye-catching and addictive. I for one am bitterly hurt that my favourite series is coming to an end.

More original than vampire diaries

I admit i was rather reluctant to watch this series especially considering vd. Don't get me wrong vd is okay for me, but common two vampire series and what more it is going to spin-off of vd. In the beginning i was rather happy with vd but as the series progressed the Elina drama got too much whiny and needy for my nerve but still i was hook to the stories so i kept on watching not like an indulgence but more of tolerated time pass. So you could imagine my surprise they are making a spin-off of vd, i mean sure there are die-hard fans of vd but this was a suicide, like they say too much of a same thing is dangerous.
But boy, i was wrong in making assumption. The Originals is much better, much more refined in it's storytelling and what more it lack female romantic whiny drama. So i was surprised and instantly liked it. I would say this is the better version of vd.
I sure hope they continue this show for long while provided they keep their storytelling as it is and make it better and pray that they don't include a needy and and whiny character like Elina in the future.

Spin off way better that the main show!

THE ORIGINALS is a show which has amazed me this season more than the main show TVD(I am not comfortable with a girl hopping in love from one brother to another- I like Ian and Nina as couple but not on the show).
The story revolves around Mikealson family i.e. NIKLAUS, ELIJAH AND REBEKKAH. They return to New Orleans 100 years after they were chased out of the city by their father(who wanted to kill them). Upon returning they realize that a vampire KLAUS raised and later sired i.e Marcel is now ruling the city and has complete control over the supernaturals in New Orleans. Klaus finds this a challenge as the one who was sired to be his image has better his own master! Unlike many people I don't mind Klaus redeeming through his child. There are many kind of loves, why not let a man healed by the love of family once than by romantic love (which should come in but not dominate the whole picture!) Joseph Morgan, Claire Holt and Daniel Gillies - the three actors are amazing in this show especially the contrast between the wildness of Joseph Morgan(Klaus)'s character vs the Serenity and sophistication of Daniel Gillies(Elijah) character. This show charms because of the evolving power struggle between super natural world and in a place no less mysterious & magical than NEW ORLEANS!
Hope the creative team doesn't ruin this show with teen-drama and love triangles (involving brothers)! It has the potential to become a power packed show.
Guys give this show a try even if you don't like the main show!

Just as good as the original show.
The Originals is much more than some teen supernatural drama. The storyline is extremely compelling and explores an old topic in a new and fresh way. There are no victims in this show, everyone has their own strengths and it keeps you guessing as to what will happen next.
I also find the cast really likable and even when they return to their old evil ways you can still see the humanity in the characters. I can't help but want to like them as they've been through so much pain in the past.
Now I must confess that yes I love all things supernatural including Twilight...but the difference is I am well aware that the Twilight movie is absolutely terrible, and in-spite of that I love it but The Originals is actually good.
There's action, romance and great special effects. All round an entertaining show.

Super awesome TV series!!!!!
This series has gone far too good beyond its expectations in just two- three episodes, the way its story has picked up speed and the environment they are creating is awesome. Klaus' character as usual is classic and its fun to watch him argue with his brother Elijah and sister Rebekah. Talking about The Vampire Diaries, that show is different in its own way, but there is no way TVD should be compared to The Originals as its story has completely moved in another direction. The acting of all characters is awesome and story is mind-blowing. The flashback story they are gonna show seems to be quite fun as it is related to original vampires. Even in The Vampire Diaries I was a bit biased towards original vampires and waited for their part to come (not only me, happened with many people). So all in all its good they separated out original vampires' story from TVD.

TVD spin-off show is better than the main show
This show is miles better than The Vampire Diaries in my opinion. The show has a brilliant cast, characters, great story and good location. I like the way they have made this show darker than TVD and they haven't kept that 'coming of age' type of show. The originals also gives explanations and goes into some detail about the characters backgrounds and helps you understand the story between the Originals and Marcel. Also, the first couple of episodes have made me wanting more without a doubt. No disrespect to TVD, i like that show, I just think that the way this show focus' on the Original family and the story which they have created makes this show a better one than The Vampire Diaries. Definitely worth the watch.

MARVELOUS & WAY WAY BETTER THAN TVD
I would say it's underrated because more people have watched The Vampire Diaries than this. And I am so shocked, this is trillion times better than TVD. TVD is such a boring drama while The Originals is way more exciting, it has well developed characters, it is all about family and not about a girl- Elena, it has more variety and combinations of supermatural creatures, alp the couples are great, Klaus and Elijah are AMAZING!!! I will rewatch this at regular intervals throughout my life. 💖

Never could get into Vampire Diary's but The Originals I just loved. And in season two, along came Yusuf Gatewood, just the most beautiful man, simply gorgeous. Kind of put Marcel in the shade.
The whole series was a joy, from start to end.

Introduced on the Vampire Diaries, the Mikaelson family have been around for thousand years. They are the most dysfunctional and flawed family. Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) is my favourite character. I never stop rooting for him. His charisma, zeal, and bluntness make him one of the few villains I root for. Klaus' actions are certainly questionable, but he always gets results. To be frank, his despicableness and hatred towards others is charming and tasteful.
The Mikaelson family consists of Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) aka the big bad wolf, Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies) aka the gentleman, Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt) aka the not so innocent little sister, Kol Mikaelson (Nathaniel Buzolic) aka the wild card, Freya Mikaelson (Riley Voelkel) aka the overprotective sibling, Finn Mikaelson aka the black sheep of the family, Henrik Mikaelson aka the forgotten sibling, Esther Mikaelson, Mikael Mikaelson, Haley Marshal-Mikaelson (Phoebe Tonkin), and Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) aka the family's shimmer of hope.
The season 1 finale saw Klaus, Elijah, and Haley united to take down the evil witches that harmed Hope. Seeing them all united to save the newest member of their family is one of the most anxiety-inducing and tension-filled scenes of the entire series. It was an utter nail-biter, and I was glued to the screen from beginning to end.
The season 2 finale is an impressive and unpredictable hour of television. Klaus betrayed his family and close allies to defeat Dahlia once and for all. His elaborate scheme to take down his Aunt Dahlia and save Hope is none other than surprising and emotional. The sun and the moon curse inflicted Haley and the other werewolves leaving them to only transform into a human during a full moon.
I really loved how the second season opened with Rebekah recapping/telling the story of the first season to Hope. The same stylistic element was repeated in the season 2 finale. Klaus is recapping the events of the finale to his daughter Hope.
From the moment Haley decided to marry Jackson, she put her pack first, and never looked back on how the Mikaelson family provided a safe and nurturing home for her and Hope. I really felt empathy for Klaus when Haley took Hope from him in the second episode of the third season.
Throughout the course of the series, I developed an innate fondness of the Mikaelson family. I quickly rooted for their success and never wanted them to lose their power. The Mikaelson family should not be defeated by some higher power, yet their reign should last forever.
The two most despised characters of the Originals is Marcel Gerard and Davina Claire. Davina's constant attempts at stopping Klaus was quite infuriating. Marcel claims to be better than Klaus, but he is as worse or even worse than he is. He is loyal or noble to his family or Klaus in that matter. He completely disregards the memory that Klaus saved him from being a slave for the rest of his life. Marcel owes Klaus his life.
Marcel Gerard is the most despised character in television history. He deserves to suffer for all eternity. Marcel claims to be better than the Mikaelson family, but that is not true. He is even worse than Klaus and does not even realize it. This character infuriates me immensely.
The Originals is an excellent spinoff of the Vampire Diaries. One might decree that it is better than its parent show in terms of acting, production design, costume design, and hair and make-up. However, the Vampire Diaries is far more wholesome, comfy, and familiar, which also makes it more rewatchable.
Final verdict: 8.5/10.

This show is amazing. It gets better and better.
I have been a TVD fan since day 1. However,watching The Original's first episode has made me doubt whether it would be good or not as I thought the story would just rely on it's mother show TVD. However, watching a few more episodes, it is getting better and better and it has actually put me off watching TVD as TVD has got nothing on this show. I have just realized that I have been watching TVD because of the amazing "Originals". The main purpose of 'The Originals' is to show viewers that it is based on family and that is the most important thing. Unlike TVD that is based on sickening stupid never ending romance between the Salvatore brothers, Silus, Petrova Doppelgangers, Elena etc. I'm so fed up of it. Hence why I advice you to give TO a shot guys, this show is amazing.

I love The Originals!!!!

Three episodes in and I am hooked!! It's a great show! Possibly better then the vampire diaries!!!!! And I love the vampire diaries!
I think it's great that they have all living originals in the show.
This past episode ended with a total cliff hanger! And I can't wait till next week to find out what happened!
Here's the breakdown: warning SPOILERS BELOW!!
They started off from the episode in the vampire diaries "the originals". We find out that Hayley(wolf) is carrying Klaus's(half wolf half vampire) baby. Marcel doesn't allow wolfs in town nor does he let the witches do magic. If they do he kills them. He also has a secret weapon, a VERY POWERFUL witch named Davina. She can tell when a witch is doing magic and she tells Marcel who it is and he goes and kills them. Elijah is trying to do everything he can to protect Hayley and her baby from Marcel and his "night walkers". Klaus ends up putting a dagger into Elijah's heart and gives his body to Marcel who gives it to Davina who won't give it back and is now trying to find a way to kill an original! There's a lot going on. So much drama in only three episodes!! Next episode I think we will learn what that witch said when she was trying to find out if Hayley's baby is a boy or a girl! That was the big cliff hanger... It's driving me crazy! What exactly is that thing baking in her tum?? Is it a wolf or a vampire or a hybrid or something else!? I can't wait to find out! 😊

Absolutely adore this show!!
As a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries, I was excited to hear about a spin off the The Original Family. At first I was worried it was going to be a disaster, but was I ever wrong! After watching the first 2 episodes I have to say I am impressed. Love the fact that more time is devoted to our favorite Originals, they really needed their own show. So happy this show exists!!! On a side note, I am watching American Horror Story Coven, A show about young and old witches coming to terms with their powers in modern day New Orleans...same city The Originals live in. It would be really cool to see an overlap of the shows for an episode or 2.... see how Marcus would deal with a Supreme Witch!!!!

More mature than VD
First three episodes are quite good. Story is fast and balanced. Cahracters are nice also and they have some nice back stories. I only hope that they are keep going strong like in these first few episodes. People who watched VD will still watch VD but its popularity will drop due to The Originals. This is what Ian Somerhalder said about The Originals:"Now, they're going to be taking these characters that mean so much to our show. I'm insanely happy for everyone, but I'm not thrilled. Not that I mind sharing, I just don't want to lose all these amazing actors on our show. Who are the other people who are gonna be coming on the show? Are they gonna be good? Because it's The CW, and everyone has to be pretty, and there aren't a lot of pretty people that can act well." For now I see few new actors in The Originals that do better job than him.

A great, great show.
Ending way too soon. I loved the intelligent dialogue with great vocabulary. Not many shows can match that. It was by far the best vampire series ever!

One of the Most Powerful,Beautiful and Epic Vampire Series Ever Done
Ive seen this series quite a few times and am blown away by its finale...every time! I cannot recall a more epic and beutifully done series on vampires and there have been some very good ones but The Originals is just on another level...The intensity, the darkness faced, the Ultimate love and redemption that comes is unparralleled...Joseph Morgan just hits it out of the park with an astounding amount of dynamic range to his acting...Pompous one moment, terrifying the next..Horribly cruel and then displaying a heart rending quality of compassion and love unconditional..I Love the actors in this show, their characters remain an impression long after the story ends..Elija, Marcel, Haley,Freya,Hope,Vincent just superb standout,memorable, and deeply moving performances....As unstoppable and powerful as the originals are, its the witches that ultimate can hold sway over all the players in this show... the witches hold astonishing levels of power and can stop cold an original in his or her tracks,one at a time or even all at once...while I really enjoyed the vampire diaries from which this came, I do find the Originals to have taken the story up many notches in intensity,darkness confronted, and just the pure depth of the story told... while vampire diaries can seem slightly campy at times and full of teen angst, the originals comes across as far more Adult... Dealing with far heavier topic matters and going deeper and darker than its predessor dared..the buildup twords the ultimate end was stunning and literally made a grown man have tears in his eyes and that, doesnt happen often! this hits hard and hits deep and moves you at ur core...Powerful television by any metric! I loved this series, can you tell? one of my favorite episodes were those when Elijah got release from his memories and for a time, got to live without that terrible burden he has carried for so long...His relationship in that time, when his mind was free just melted my heart...A Powerful, Beautifully written and acted tale that will set the benchmark for its genre for ages to come.
